The more steps you can take, the better. Walking every day will benefit your physical health as well as your mental health, not to mention that it can also help you to beat anxiety and depression. If you want to make sure that you bump up your daily step count, then this is the guide for you.
Use an App
Counting your steps is one of the most boring things you can do, but if you use an app then you can make it fun. If you have a smartwatch or if you have an app then this will help you to track your steps, distance, the total calories you have burned and more. There are even apps out there that you can use to play games with the steps you take, while also allowing you to compete with friends.

Get a Dog
If you get a dog then they will give you a good reason to get out of your house, twice a day. Dog owners tend to walk way more than those who do not own a dog, and on top of this, they are 50% more likely to get their recommended daily steps in. If you do not feel as though you have the time or energy to devote to walking a dog then this is understandable, so think about walking a dog at the local shelter. If you can do this, then you will make the dog’s day and you may even find that you can benefit yourself as a result. If you find it hard to walk but you don’t know why then now could be the time for you to go through podiatry services so you can get to the root of the issue.
Play with your Children
Children tend to be full of energy and they don’t usually find it hard to get steps in. Why? Because they have the ability to make it fun and there’s no reason why you can’t either. When you have kids, you may find that you have your own personal trainer working right by your side. If you have kids and they aren’t too active then now is the time for you to change that. Try and get them moving and make it a family mission to try and get fitter.
Set an Alarm
You have to make sure that you do make sure that you get up early in the morning so you have enough time to get everything you need done. Add in walks throughout your day as well if you can. It may be that you need to set an alarm to remind you to move or that you go for a lap around the block once per hour. If you can do things like this then you will soon find that it is easier than ever for you to get your steps in while increasing your fitness. One of the best ways for you to motivate yourself would be for you to try and get your best friend involved. See if they will come with you, as a way to hold yourself accountable.
